Grade 4

In Grade 4, students will continue to develop and grow their learning across the curriculum, including their literacy, numeracy, history, science and design knowledge skills. 

Students will participate in reading activities, including Guided Reading, Literacy Circles and independent tasks, to practice a range of literacy skills including comprehension, accuracy, fluency and vocabulary. They will be learning about number and place value, including multiplication and division facts, fractions and decimals, money and financial mathematics, and patterns and algebra. Students will also continue to develop their measurement and geometry knowledge. Students will be exploring new concepts in Inquiry, including history, science and design technologies.

Grade 4 is an exciting year for our students where they will be consolidating their independence and taking responsibility for their learning, to prepare them for senior school. Students will be encouraged to question and display a strong curiosity for learning. Students will be placed into flexible teaching groups that will enable them to be supported, challenged and extended both academically and socially. Students participate in a range of whole school programmed activities, including; Cross Country, Italian Day, Harmony Day, Colour Fun Run, Swimming Carnival, Athletics Carnival, Camp Weekaway, Incursions and Excursions.
