Students at Strathmore Primary love learning the Italian language. Students are immersed in the culture and language of Italy in engaging learning activities and whole school events. The students often greet the teacher in the playground and around the school in Italian, which is fantastic to see! Throughout each term, the students speak, read and build their skills of the Italian language. It is a wonderful observation seeing the students’ enthusiasm for learning another language from Prep to Grade 6.
Strathmore Primary is an inclusive learning environment comprising of students from many cultural backgrounds. A love of learning different languages is fostered and encouraged by the language specialist teacher, Angela Pane. Students often teach her words and phrases from their own culture, this allowing students to celebrate their various backgrounds. Embracing this learning philosophy, students learn to embrace all cultures and backgrounds while being respectful of each other.
While learning and building their skills in Italian, the students appreciate how special it is to be able to learn about a different culture and communicate in an additional language in a fun and engaging way.
