Grade 5/6

In grade 5 and 6, students will continue to develop and grow their learning in all areas of the  curriculum and evolve as leaders within the school.

There is the opportunity for students to take on extra roles of responsibility within the school and build their leadership skills. Selected students have the opportunity of being school captains, house captains, environment captains and JSC representatives. At Strathmore, we encourage all students in the cohort to see the opportunity to view themselves as role models within the school.

Sport is an important aspect of the senior years. Students in year 6 have the opportunity to participate in a Summer or Winter interschool team during the year, with year 5’s having the option to try out for teams, when needed. During these games, students enjoy playing against other schools in the area.

Students continue to develop their ICT skills with the school’s BYO device program. They use a variety of apps to read, write and share their work, as directed by their teacher. The Google Classroom program is utilised as a platform for work to be delivered and accessed by students.

In Term 4, the year 6’s prepare and organise their graduation program. During this time, the students prepare speeches and dances to be performed before an audience. The year 5’s participate in bike education. Throughout these lessons, students learn and develop necessary bike skills that help them be more confident riders.
